Northwest Africa 773
Country: Western Sahara We purchased this meteorite from Bedouin near Dchira, Western Sahara in 2000. By February 2001 it's lunar origin was confirmed. Yet the composition was unmatched. It has two distinct lithologies: a green cumulate and black breccia. Dr. Tim Fagan made the first description of this new type of meteorite calling it a cumulate olivine norite with regolith breccia more often abbreviated norite. Interesting spectroscopy research of the south pole of the moon (Atkin Basin) have remarkable similarities with composition of this meteorite. |
